Politically Aware

Ok, so I never made the ranting-and-raving post about why I'm voting for Obama over McCain. It would have been a good one, but I just haven't mustered up the energy to do it.

Here are some excellent links to help become more politically aware, should you bed interested in the issues at hand:

Project VoteSmart:
Rub by a bipartisan group of interns and volunteers, this site publishes biographies, voting records, and other details about all presidential, congressional, gubernatorial, and state legislative candidates.

FedSpending.org. This gives you easy ways to see exactly where, and on what, your federal tax dollars are being spent.

OpenCongress.org. This site combines official government data with news coverage, blog posts, and commentary to give you the real story abotu what's happening in Congress.

PolitiFact Truth-o-Meter
: Fact check every word of candidates' speeches, TV ads, and interviews to determine the amount of truth in the claims they make. There's also some fun stuff on here, like the "flip-o-meter."

And lastly:

Secrets of the Ignorant, Uneducated Masses.org: This site has it all, exposing the truth behind the candidates and other deep dark secrets including:

  • Barack Obama is an Arab Spy (yes, all those emails written by your angry cousin Bubba are true! Long live the confederacy!)
  • Barack Obama is a Muslim (the horror!)
  • Barack Obama is a domestic terrorist
  • Mormons are a cult and are still polygamists, trust me
  • The pyramids were built by aliens. Of the illegal variety.
  • Werewolves are real and live in Wisconsin.
  • Rick Astley was African American.
  • Sarah Palin graduated from high school.
  • . . . and John McCain is going to win.
